“There’s lots of opportunity here. I’m really excited about the future.”
This is what Mark Wahlberg told PEOPLE magazine when asked why he was moving to Las Vegas. So, it’s no surprise that the Uncharted actor and his brothers– Donnie and Paul Wahlberg– recently made an
appearance at CoWork Lounge’s local bar, The Sand Dollar Lounge, to raise funds and awareness with Zo’s Braveheart Foundation, an organization that helps Las Vegas families with the burdens of childhood cancer. In the past few years, Mark Wahlberg has consistently been floating the idea of Las Vegas becoming
“Hollywood 2.0” and has made trailblazing efforts to make this idea a
reality. The actor has also contributed to Las Vegas’ local communities— just like his collaboration with The Sand Dollar
Lounge—in hopes of building the city up from within.
In 2022, Mark Wahlberg streamlined the approval process for the construction of a $1.8 billion Sony movie studio to be built in
Summerlin. Although there aren’t any specific construction dates for the studio, the project is estimated to make 10,000 jobs in Las Vegas and Wahlberg strongly believes that this will change the movie production industry.

“There’s a tremendous amount of advantages (in building in Las Vegas) and we think that we
would bring a lot of high-paying jobs to the state of Nevada. And the average pay for our
(production) employees is around $100,000 and there aren’t many jobs in other businesses
that have that kind of average and they are all union jobs, too.”-Mark Wahlberg, Las Vegas Review-Journal (March 20, 2024)
But Mark Wahlberg isn’t the only celebrity that moved from Los Angeles to pursue a new future in Las Vegas, many celebrities before him have seen this vision: Celine Dion, Mike Tyson, and Nicolas Cage have all moved to Las Vegas, creating a new space for their own respective
industries. We’ve also seen Wahlberg’s “Hollywood 2.0” locally, where The Film Post, a movie production company, hosted an event for some of Hollywood’s top movie executives and producers. The “Hollywood 2.0” event was held in CoWork Lounge’s facility and courtyard, hosting more than 200 guests with delicious catering, dazzling performances from a local Muay Thai gym, and a serene view of the Las Vegas strip. Visit CoWork Lounge’s YouTube Channel and website, to see more about the event. For a hundred years, since the early 1920s, Hollywood has been prominent in shaping the movie industry globally— but it’s time for a change. A change that will rewrite what Las Vegas currently
is into what it could be. So, whether or not you believe Las Vegas is for you, it’s no doubt that the city is progressing rapidly— into a new, modern take of Hollywood.
You may not have starred in 65 movies like Mark Wahlberg but you could still be a part of Las Vegas’ growing industry— And if you’re looking for a space to work or even meet some big execs, visit CoWork Lounge and join the “Hollywood 2.0” movement.
